Oil Flare and Spill and MARE Riding Center
In ProgressCCEJN received a complaint from a resident detailing a fire that broke out on March 1st at 1:29 pm, which prompted a voluntary evacuation along with all of their horses. I've attached images of the fire below. Complaints have also described illegal oil cleanup methods including pouring gasoline on tanks to wash off oil while smoking cigarettes nearby and dumping dirt over oil spills.
The operator of this site has repeated regulatory violations including the following:
May 30, 2022 - over 25 barrels of oil and produced water were released
August 28, 2022 - electrical fire at the lease site
September 16, 2022 - Kern County EHS issued NOV due to lack of cleanup from May 2022
September 30, 2022 - Compliance for NOV deadline for proper documentation and disposal of hazardous, materials was NOT achieved
June 2, 2023 - fire from an open flame at the lease requiring emergency response
[Feb 11, 2026] On March 1st 2025, the release was stopped, contained, and no waterways were impacted. Personnel from Power Drive Energy Services Company,
LLC. made repairs to the valve and working on clean up efforts.
