Oil spill in home near Lamont. (Kern Oil Refinery)

On August 11th, there was a 6’ pipeline that ruptured and leaked into a backyard near Lamont causing a big pool of oil to spill into the property. The pipeline was (According to DOGGR) not in production and decommissioned from operations. When talking to DOGGR and the County Environmental Health dept. they stated that no one company had claimed ownership of the pipeline, however, Kern Oil Refinery volunteered to start the clean-up process on the leak that same night. No one was evacuated from the homes nor do we know of any samples that were taken during the leakage.
