water contamination from oil wells

After a half inch of rain fell on the morning of December 12, 2014 there was water standing around the base of many oil wells in the North Shafter oil field surrounded by prime farmland. This standing water is being contaminated by leakage from the oil wells. The contaminated water is percolating into the ground and will eventually end up contaminating the groundwater for both farmers and residents.
